Chief, Eric and Katie end the second half of the show discussing the importance of discussing history, so not to relive it, adding the lasting impression their parents’ experiences during the Great Depression, versus today’s society where everyone ‘deserves’ the American Dream.

Brendan Cournane returns to the show in-studio to talk Illinois’s credit rating, last night’s Super Bowl comeback by the Patriots and much more. Options guru and veteran floor trader, Frank Fahey, predicts a flat market this week in spite of inflammatory political announcements (check out Frank’s weekly blog here). Matt Taibbi, writer/reporter for Rolling Stone, has a detailed discussion with the Chief regarding financial regulation and the role of the media covering the new administration. The Chief and Maddie kick off the show discussing the Kentucky Derby and the wildfires ravaging Canada. Chris Manns joins in for a discussion of the election and the party system. The crew wonders if the increasing popularity of party “outsiders” like Trump and Sanders will break the 2 party system. Stocks & Jocks friend Karl Denninger calls in with an analysis of the labor market. He says he’s not buying the optimism reflected in the recent job reports. From Arizona, John Neal calls with his stock of the week and gives his two cents on whether John McCain can hold his senate seat another term. Politics Ain’t Beanbag


Lou Michels joins The Chief on the show to discuss the latest election news now that Trump is the sole GOP candidate. The Chief wonders how Trump’s harsh New York-ness hasn’t turned the country off from his charms. In the first hour Lou and the Chief rekindle their debate over Uber and discuss the national deficit as well as the average American family’s debt. Later they discuss how the US broke the Russian economy and how we’re not in a war right now but one seems inevitable within the next ten years. In between talking about politics and markets, The Chief and Lou find time to discuss gym etiquette and women’s hairstyle fads.
